creating Master products that make a difference to people's
lives.
DESSO AirMaster®
Across all our customer sectors (office,
healthcare, education) the importance of having cleaner indoor air
cannot be overstated. It helps to reduce health problems relating
to the lungs and vascular system including the rising problem of
asthma. In this way, the carpet you install can actually help to
reduce sickness absenteeism, improve productivity at work and
learning in education as well as secure a healthier and safer
environment for staff and patients in healthcare.
Desso is providing architects and interior designers with the
'best of both worlds' with the extension of its patented
DESSO AirMaster® carpet tile collection through AirMaster® -
Elements and Blend. These new product ranges offer a wider
variety of stunning patterns and textures - with all the great
functionality of the original DESSO AirMaster®
range.
DESSO AirMaster® is 8 times more effective in capturing and retaining fine dust than smooth flooring solutions and 4 times more effective than standard carpet solutions1).
Whether it is in the office, the classroom, retail outlets, airport lounges or healthcare environments, DESSO AirMaster® offers an outstanding flooring solution to drastically improve indoor air quality.
DESSO
SoundMaster®
In the same environments, sound can be a major
impediment to health and wellbeing. Students might not be able to
hear their teachers effectively; office workers may not be able to
concentrate well or collaborate in open plan spaces; and patients
may find the bad acoustics stressful, hampering their recovery
times. To deal with this problem we launched DESSO SoundMaster®,
which controls sound by insulation and absorption, reducing the
unwanted noise.
DESSO SoundMaster® offers an impact sound
insulation value (ΔLw) up to +15 dB above the standard
value2), thereby setting a new industry standard in
carpet performance.
DESSO SoundMaster® achieves an improvement in sound absorption
performance up to +0.15 (αw)10)2, equivalent to up to
+100% improvement in comparison to standard carpet designs (αwvalue
between 0.15 and 0.20)3.
On top of its expertly designed functionality, the SoundMaster® backing is a clear example of up-cycling with its 80% recycled content from used PET bottles.
DESSO Light Reflection Master®
Light is one of the basic
elements that make life possible. Not just at home but also at
work, the presence and intensity of light is essential for people
to be able to function properly. It leads to better performance
because it raises our concentration levels and boosts our
productivity. Light also has a positive impact on work satisfaction
and sick-related absenteeism. In addition, light ensures that the
risk of accidents in the workplace can be significantly
reduced4. However, the amount of energy we consume for our
lighting increases every year5. In some buildings
lighting is the largest single category of electricity consumption.
For office buildings in Europe it accounts for as much as half of
the building's total energy use5.
The floor, usually one of the largest surfaces in
a room, can make a big difference to the amount of light reflected.
To capitalise on this potential, Desso's product designers
developed the DESSO Light Reflection Master® - a carpet collection
that reflects more light and can reduce lighting energy costs.
Using less energy for lighting also helps organisations to cut down
their energy related CO2emissions.
DESSO light Reflection Master® is the carpet that gives you
energy.
The use of DESSO Light Reflection Master® can increase the brightness of a room by up to 14%6 and can reduce lighting costs by up to 10%6.
1) Based on tests performed by GUI, with DESSO AirMaster® versus a standard smooth floor and versus standard structured loop pile carpet (median values)
2) Tests performed at SWA (Schall-
und Wämemessstelle Aachen GmbH) - Institut fuer schalltechnische
und wärmetechnische Prüfungen-Beratung-Planung
3) To compare: other flooring solutions (non-carpet)
generally give a value between 0.05 and 0.10.

software, based on closed cell office without furniture and without

the ceiling, the amount of light coming in from outside and the
general nature of the surroundings.
